Step 1 of 5 · Your customers import automaticallyOn install, SGNL imports your Shopify customers and orders. Watch progress on the Home page.

Before you start

  • Access to your domain's DNS settings (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare or similar)
  • The email address you want to send from
  • A subscriber CSV, if you're moving from another email tool

Setup steps

  1. Install SGNL

    Apps › SGNL

Install and approve permissions. SGNL starts importing your customers and orders right away; large stores can take a few minutes.

  2. Create a sign-up form

    SGNL › Sign-up forms › Create

Pick a pop-up or embedded form, write a clear offer, choose when it appears, and pick the list new subscribers join. Consent is recorded with every signup.

  3. Turn on the SGNL app embed

Online Store › Themes › Customize › App embeds › SGNL

Switch it on and save. Your forms start showing, and browsing activity is tracked for abandonment flows.

  4. Set your sender name and reply-to

    SGNL › Sending

Use a name customers recognize, usually your store name, and a reply-to inbox someone reads.

  5. Verify your sending domain

    SGNL › Sending › Domain

SGNL shows three DNS records (DKIM, SPF and DMARC). Add them at your domain host exactly as shown, wait for them to update, then click Verify.

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. You can keep setting up while you wait.
  6. Import your list (optional)

    SGNL › Profiles › Import

Upload a CSV from Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Shopify. Map the columns, choose a list and confirm your contacts gave consent.

  7. Turn on flows and send a campaign

    SGNL › Home

Turn on the welcome series and abandoned checkout flows, then send your first campaign to a list or segment.

After setup

  • Send a test to yourself before every campaign.
  • On Email plans, try A/B testing subject lines.
  • Check reporting a few days after each send.

Troubleshooting

My form doesn't appear.

Turn on the SGNL app embed and save the theme. Check the form is published and its display rules match the page.

Domain verification fails.

Copy each record exactly; some hosts add your domain to the name automatically, so enter only the part before your domain.

Contacts count is higher than expected.

Only contacts who can receive email count toward your plan. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts don't.
